Dont get too hung up, if none of the four words describe you or if there are some words that seem too similar, take a guess. Your response on one set of four words will not unduly influence your scores, so simply answer as quickly as possible and enjoy the process. On these kinds of assessments, it is often best and easiest if you respond quickly and do not deliberate too long in deciding. One final thought as you give your responses. On the other hand, if you want to know your behavioral needs on the job, then only think of how you would respond in the job context. For instance, if you are trying to understand yourself in marriage, you should only think of your responses to situations in the context of your marriage. So, as you complete the assessment you should focus on one environment for which you are seeking to understand yourself. In other words, you may act differently at home than you do on the job. This assessment is environmentally sensitive, which means that you may score differently in different situations. Select one word from each set of four that MOST describes you and one word of the four that LEAST describes you. They may also have more difficulty getting along with others than do people without personality disorders. In this assessment you are given 28 sets of four words. People with personality disorders are at increased risk for self-harming behaviours and suicide. These are characterized by experiencing compulsions and anxiety. Cluster C: anxious personality disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive, dependent and avoidant personality disorders. These are characterized by having difficulty controlling emotions, fears, desires and anger. Cluster B: impulsive personality disorders, such as borderline, narcissistic, histrionic and antisocial personality disorders. These are characterized by feeling paranoid, distrustful and suspicious. Cluster A: paranoid, schizoid and schizotypal personality disorders. Each personality disorder has its own signs and symptoms, but there are similarities within each of the three clusters: The 10 personality disorders are grouped into three clusters according to shared characteristics. Borderline personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder are the most frequently diagnosed personality disorders (the others are listed below). Types of Personality DisordersĬurrently, there are 10 personality disorders recognized in psychiatry. Instead, clinicians diagnose BPD and personality disorders through a thorough assessment that emphasizes longitudinal difficulties, and not simply the cross sectional presentation. While primary care doctors may use screening tools for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), such as the McLean Screening Instrument for BPD (MSI-BPD), the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire 4th edition-BPD Scale, and the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis II Personality Disorders -Patient Questionnaire-BPD Scale (SCID-II-PQ BPD) to help diagnose BPD and personality disorders), a single, definitive personality disorder test does not exist.
